Unlike Scouts BSA, where you advance in rank based solely on achievement, Cub Scouts move through ranks based on their school grade. This isn’t to say they don’t need to accomplish anything to earn a rank, but rather once a rank is earned a kid can’t move to the next rank until the following school year.
