Cub Scout Cyber Chip

The Cyber Chip is a patch kids earn for reviewing and discussing safe online behavior materials and signing an Internet Safety Pledge card. It needs to be ‘recharged’ each year by watching additional videos and is necessary for achieving each rank.

Cubs wear the Cyber Chip below the right pocket flap on their Class A uniform. Current requirements to earn the patch are:

Grades 1-3

The first year a Cub in grades 1-3 earns their Cyber Chip, they need to watch the following two videos online and discuss them with their Den or family.

Scouts ‘recharge’ their Cyber Chip each successive year by watching two additional videos on NetSmartz and signing a new pledge card.

Grades 4-5

Cubs in grades 4-5 earn their Cyber Chip by watching two videos online and discussing them with their Den or family.

As with younger Cubs, older scouts will ‘recharge’ their Cyber Chip each successive year by two watching additional videos on NetSmartz and signing a new pledge card.
